My son’s first words to me this morning were, “Mommy! You’re 22 today!” because it’s the 22nd and it is my birthday. He’s been looking forward to it for weeks. Apparently, he thought it’s my 22nd birthday since it is the 22nd.
That’s not the case, but let’s not tell him.
Last night, I celebrated with cake and family. I had to blow out a birthday MATCH because I forgot to buy myself some birthday candles. Ah, the life of a mother! No day is a holiday, huh.
I can really relate to this excuse in the comic above. I used this as an excuse when I stayed up late finishing The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot the other night. Such a fascinating book. I will post about it at some point. So much to consider in it.
What are you reading these days?
Happy birthday! I know the feeling about not ever getting a holiday, though. Still, I hope it’s a good day for you! 🙂
Word Lily » Thanks! It was a nice day.
Very amusing. Of course at that age most children think their parents are ancient.
Happy birthday, from a lurker. I LOVE that cartoon – perfect!
Happy birthday! It sounds like you had a nice celebration. I hope you got some book-shaped presents too. Your little one is adorable.
