Thoughts about reading fiction, nonfiction, & children's books, new & old
The 30th Edition of the Bookworms Carnival, hosted by Michelle at Biblio.me, is up! It’s theme was “Books about Books” and features both fiction and nonfiction. I love books that talk about books, and it was so much fun to visit posts about so many books that I haven’t yet read.
Go check out the carnival here.
If you didn’t submit your post this time, don’t worry because there are more coming up! You too can be a part of the Cool Carnival Crowd.
Edition 31 hosted by: the BWC
Deadline for submission: June 12, 2009
Theme: Paranormal Fiction
To submit a post, email: bookwormscarnival at gmail dot com
This is one carnival for which I have absolutely nothing to submit. I have never read anything about vampires or “shape-shifters” and I couldn’t think of one that I wanted to read by next week. BUT I know a lot of you have read such books. Search your archives. In fact, I’ll bet a lot of you read a popular book about a high school girl named Bella. Maybe the carnival would like some honest reviews of that.
Edition 32 hosted by: Ali at Worducopia
Deadline for submission: June 26, 2009
Theme: Local (to you) Authors
To submit a post, email: worducopia AT gmail DOT com
This is a carnival I’m really excited about. Ali wrote a sample post, this one about Beverley Cleary and her local Portland, here. Which author is local to you? Write up a post about him or her and send your post to Ali by June 26. I’m planning on reading a Carl Sandburg volume of poetry and writing about him, since “Chicago” is my locale.
Edition 33 hosted by: the BWC
Deadline for submission: July 10 2009
Theme: Whatcha Reading? – Give me your latest review or your favorite
To submit a post, email: bookwormscarnival at gmail dot com
This is a carnival everyone can submit to! Start thinking about your favorite review from the past few weeks (or in the next few weeks) and then submit it to the Bookworms Carnival. I love seeing how varied everyone’s posts are.
You’ll notice that two of these three upcoming carnivals are hosted on the BWC website. We’ve had a number of missing hosts lately, and we’re trying to get the carnival under control, keeping the spirit of Dewey’s carnival. Since Dewey’s passing, it’s been hard to get things together for the BWC: many people only responded to Dewey’s emails. We hope that hosting two carnivals at the BWC site will help the community remember it and regain some of the excitment Dewey had.
If you are interested in hosting an upcoming carnival, check out the Bookworms Carnival website for more information. The host is allowed to choose a theme and is given an “entries due” date, and then he or she is held responsible for compiling the entries into a post, hopefully within the next week.
I’m hosting an August carnival, with the theme of Really Old Classics (pre-Shakespearean classics). Please read something really old between now and August! It would be so much fun to have dozens of entries to sort through and put in order!

This blog is a collection of my thoughts about books and reading and reviews of books I've read. I'd love to hear your thoughts, too. Please share!

Thanks for pointing us in the right direction, I have been busy clicking myself through blogs and posts and adding them to my reader!
And I really hope you’ll have loads of entries for your own carnival!
Originally I thought I didn’t have any local to me authors, but then realized that Rick Riordan lives in SA. So maybe I’ll read the rest of the Percy Jackson series.
Susi, I do think the Carnivals are great ways to find blogs you may not have heard of!
Amanda, sounds like fun!
