Thoughts about reading fiction, nonfiction, & children's books, new & old
Does anyone host a “Holiday Favorites” challenge? I haven’t seen any information about any such challenge floating around the blogosphere, but correct me if I’m wrong.
I loved reading everyone’s posts for the R.I.P. challenge and I’d love to read everyone’s “Happy Holidays” book selections. (I didn’t join the R.I.P. challenge because I didn’t think I liked “scary” books; silly me, I loved reading Irving’s, Hawthorne’s, and even Poe’s stories for Halloween this year.)
I would keep the Holiday challenge to just one to three books, running from November 15, 2008 to December 31, 2008. But maybe I’m crazy: I know the holidays are crazy-busy.
Please let me know what you think by joining in this poll.
Sophisticated Dorkiness is having a 100th post giveaway. Kim started blogging just about when I did. She’s a grad student in journalism and she has great posts that get me thinking about books and reading in a different way.
Visit here for more info (and add her RSS feed to your list!).
In honor of Blog Action Day 2008, I sponsored comments from October 15 until the end of the month: I’ll donate 10 cents to the World Food Programme for every comment. See my post on Blog Action Day here.
At 197 comments, that comes to $19.70. I’ve donated $20 to fighting world hunger. Thanks for reading and commenting on Rebecca Reads!

Book in Hand in hosting a holiday challenge: http://bookinhand.blogspot.com/2008/10/winter-holiday-reading-challenge.html
Awesome on the donation! I wish I could have commented more, I was barely keeping my head above water in October. It was all I took to log into my blog.

Congrats on the donation! I don’t know if I’d join a holiday challenge, but I do know I’ve been saving Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris to read sometime close to Christmas. I’m really excited about it!

Rebecca, I think a holiday challenge is a great idea. My book club is reading “holiday favorites” for our December meeting, and I would love to have some ideas from the blogosphere.

Kim, Oh good! I love reading about holiday books. I’ll look for your review!
Jessica, there are so many options out there! Because Book in Hand is already hosting a challenge, I think I’ll be piggy-backing on that, so check out Book in Hand’s post.
