I’m Back and Book Miscellany
Image via CrunchBase, source unknown I’m back from New Zealand! We had a wonderful time, enjoying the scenery of Fiordlands and Queenstown. Our 10-month-old loved the baby-unsafe hotel rooms, and he has been thoroughly spoiled with extra Binkie time and overall parental indulgence.
Thursday I had a few moments, so I logged in to Google Reader: more than 500 posts awaited me. I deleted some posts, bringing it down to 350. Yesterday I logged in again, only to find 520. Again, I deleted some and went to bed. This morning, there are again more than 500. I guess I don’t get any time off!
While I was gone:
- My post of Goodnight Moon was featured in the August 2008 Carnival of Children’s Literature at Chicken Spaghtti.
- Amy came up with the idea of Book Bloggers Appreciation Week (because we all need to spend more time blogging about reading, I guess…). But, hey, I appreciate all the book bloggers who got me into this thing and I want people to appreciate me, so I’ve “signed up.” Amy says that there will be a searchable database of all book bloggers who sign up, so get your name and blog on the list too!
- Alessandra tagged me for a Book Buzz Meme. As usually, I’m not going to do it as I’m told. Instead, I’m going to recommend a book I think everyone should read: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It covers all the bases of what a good novel should contain. If you haven’t read it, I suggest you do!
I mentioned in May that a move was imminent. Well, it didn’t come when I expected it to, but it’s coming now. My international move is coming Saturday. As a result, I’m going to be a bit distracted. I will do my best to be a part of the book blogging world, but moving, finding a home, buying some furniture, and otherwise getting my family settled is going to be a priority. I’ve loved book blogging and I don’t want to stop, but, I guess you can say life gets in the way.
I’m off to read your blogs now!

- @Zommie I love West Wing too! So good.
- Dare I do it? I'm starting blogging again -- but I suspect I'll be a little different from now on http://bit.ly/bbKvZx
- My son's obsession has been Goldilocks and the 3 bears. This morning he's playing "Blue's Clues and the 3 Bears." Hmmm...
- I spent way too long this a.m. taking apart my dishwasher to clean the filter. I'm hoping that cleaner dishes make the effort worth it.
- The REALLY OLD CLASSICS Challenge starts today! And goes for four months. One work in four months....very doable. http://bit.ly/d3Q1Xr
