Secrets of Air by Mi-ae Lee, illustrated by Hae-ryun Jeong, tells basics about air. It discusses how air wraps the earth, how air is thinner the higher we go, how air moves as wind, and even basics about air currents. Each page has a few easy to read sentences to make it feel like a story. The bottom of each page has smaller text that expounds upon the nonfiction concept introduced. For example, one pages says we breathe air into our body and breathe air out of our body. The information passage adds further information: “When we breathe in we use the oxygen in the air and exhale carbon dioxide.” The last pages introduce the need to take care of air from air pollution. The illustrations add to the text, which overall feels like a refreshing story rather than the nonfiction book that it really is.
