Who Was Here?: Discovering Animal Tracks by Mia Posada (Millbrook Press, October 2014) has rich illustrations of animal footprints, coupled with delightful rhymes. Each of these animal track pages ends with the question: “Who Was Here?” The answer is only told on the next page, which also has a paragraph about the tracked animal.

To my surprise, my toddler girl loved this book! She liked finding the questions and she loved seeing the big animals on the next page. My son, of course, at age six is a better audience for the book. He loved guessing what animals were represented by the print, and enjoyed reading the paragraph about the animals. As a whole, both kids wanted to read this book again and again, even after they knew who had left the prints.

Note: I received a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
